An excellent friend brings you back raisins (and cheese) all the way from Xinjiang province so that one of those 57 types of cookies can have a sort of, shall we say, Uighur flair.

Ingredients
2 cups old-fashioned oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon ground ginger
⅛ teaspoon allspice
¾ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
¾ cup light brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup raisins from Xinjiang
